Today was quite a special day really. I haven’t taken a day off from the business since I started it in May this year. When I say I haven’t taken a day off, I mean literally - I have been working seven days a week, and long days at that. I have taken half days off, here and there, and I can down tools when I get tired or need to do something else, so the pressure isn’t as bad as if I’d done the same as an employee. And the whole thing is a lot of fun really: painting, designing, attending a variety of shows in sometimes gorgeous surroundings, meeting lovely people, and learning new stuff about websites (not my fave bit, but I do like the fact I’m learning!!).
However, it was a lovely treat to go out for the day. I wrapped up two parcels first thing, and took them with me to post (ha, so I suppose even my day off included working a little bit! Not that I mind.)
We went to the peak district. Here’s the river at Matlock Bath looking peaceful and calm:

And this water feature next to the river was looking fabulously mossy:

I have a bit of a thing for moss. I just love how it looks squishy and soft, reminding me of a cushion or quilt. People don’t understand my love of moss – they tell me it’s a weed. I think it’s misunderstood.

Anyway, there’s nothing like a day out for a relaxing break. We had lunch out, with a scrummy cappucino cake for desert, a mooch round some nice craft, gift and antique shops, walks by the river, and the yummiest rum and raisin ice creams.

I shall be busily back at work tomorrow, Saturday, making some last-minute bits for a show I’ll be doing on the Sunday

I will try to get round to showing you a couple of special orders I’ve done for pet owners. I’m loving them and hope the pet owners do too when they receive them! Betty and Pip will receive their kennel sign in the next few days as it was one of the parcels I took with me and posted in the peak district. And two rabbits called Butters and Chaos will receive their doorhanger soon as it will be posted tomorrow or Monday. I’m guessing their owners will be slightly more interested in them than the pets will…
