Handmade Monday #6
I can’t believe how quickly these weeks are rolling by!
I’m thrilled and slightly amazed that Handmade Monday is generating so much interest and I’m really pleased that it seems to be working well for the fabulous people who are joining in. The bonuses for joining in seem to be: increased motivation for making (and blogging about) new things, increased traffic, more blog followers and more comments. All good stuff !
Oh, and it’s a lot of fun, too, to hop around everyone else’s blogs seeing what they’ve been up to and leaving comments
It’s been a week of many chalkboards for me . . . I did nine of them for one customer alone – and a couple more for others. I loved making up the nine…
They were all countdown chalkboards – a countdown to a wedding. The five bridesmaids, a flower girl, bride’s mother, bridegroom’s mother and the happy couple all got their own countdown chalkboards. Each one was finished with a purple hanging wire in keeping with the wedding colours. A lovely idea and something which will hopefully add to the excitement for everyone concerned! The bride-to-be was certainly happy with them
Now it’s your turn! To join in with Handmade Monday:

The count down boards are a brilliant idea!! love the heart shape too
I do the heart shape boards for other things (they’re popular as a gift for newlyweds or for a housewarming) but it’s the first time I’ve done these ones for a countdown!
It is amazing how fast the year is going by….it makes me sad, seriously.
Anyway, Handmade Monday is BRILLIANT! It’s done my blog good and done me good too. Thanks for setting it up.
Your Countdown Chalk boards are a really cute idea and I bet they’ll be very popular too.
Knitting Snippets won’t be updated until MONDAY morning as I need to take a couple of photos first so please don’t visit until late Monday morning if poss’.
I can’t do anything about the year going by too fast but I’m glad Handmade Monday has been good for you and your blog. That’s lovely to hear
I love your countdown chalkboard!! You’re so clever!!
Oh what a fabulous idea with the chalk boards!!
This year is going way to fast again – do you think it’s because we are getting younger?
Before you say it yes I’m early with my post – thought I would get ahead of myself for once.
Have a lovely week.
Anita
That must be it – we are getting younger!
I can’t believe it, it’s Sunday (here in the US) and I’m already posted! I’m ahead for once.
What cute little boards, you do the best stuff. Wish I lived closer, you all have the best group!
Y’know Susie, I don’t know many of this group in real life – even though we’re all in the UK we are spread about quite a bit. It’s lovely to have someone so far away join in – just shows how the internet has made the world smaller.
Just so you know, I usually make this live at 6pm on a Sunday UK time (makes it easier for people to get ahead, especially as some have a 9-5 job too). If you know how far you are ahead (behind?!) you’ll know when that is. (Time zones *always* confuse me)
Thanks again Wendy for another handmade monday.
Love your chalk boards too. I have seen some similar before in my local cafe scattered around the walls with specials written on them. They looked really effective.
Looking forward to having a read of everyones blog x
Great idea! These would be great at Christmas!
Got my self properly sorted for this weeks handmade monday now I understand what it’s about – sorry for my rubbishness last week x
No apology needed! Yes, I do smaller versions for Christmas countdowns with little pics of holly or Christmas trees.
What a lovely and unique idea Wendy, agree would be good for Christmas/Easter countdowns
Thanks – I do smaller versions for Christmas countdowns, which might be where the idea originated!
Thank you everyone for joining in, and for your links and comments. I’ve got a really busy day today – lots of urgent orders mostly for what seems to be a lot of newborn babies and Christenings. So it’s a day of storks, individual letter canvases for names and photo frames as well as a few plaques.
I’ve visited all the links so far and will try to get round to leaving comments for everyone later on.
Lol, there are *loads* of babies and people who are pregnant at the moment! Maybe you should do a pregnancy countdown chalkboard! I love the heart ones, fab
What an excellent idea! Thanks
Count down boards are such a great idea. I don’t think most people have caught on with the idea so it’s nice to see you embrace a full range of occasions. As usual, work that puts most of us to shame
What a brilliant idea, and so nice to have something for the bridesmaids/pageboys given to them BEFORE the big day, so they can look forward to it!
Like Becky, I think a baby/pregnancy countdown chalkboard would be a brilliant idea too.
Handmade Monday is definitely proving very popular – it’s great to be able to see so many different talents in one place.
Totally agree – and it’s down to people joining in that is making it work. Thank you x
I love these chalk boards – I have something similar that I bought at a craft fair but it was made out of grey slate – your boards look like they’d be alot easier to write on. They are lovely. This is the first time I’ve entered Handmade Monday – thanks for doing it. Have a good rest of the day.
Rebecca x
It’s lovely to have you here – I hope you’ll be back again. The boards are nice and easy to write on as they are painted with blackboard paint. Thank you for your comments x
Thank you everyone for your comments. Like Laura said, it’s great to see so many different talents in one place! I love looking around the blogs and seeing all the different makes, designs, ideas, etc. Thanks everyone! xx
What a great idea, could definitely be adjusted for lost of different reasons. As usual it’s the small details that matter, making the wire match the bridesmaid colours is genius.

Hi Wendy,
Lovely idea with the chalkboards. I will keep that in mind when we finally tie the knot! I have been a bit delayed and so have created my blog today, hope that’s ok. I will have a nosey at everybody elses now
Thank you xx
More than ok – lovely to have you here! x
Those chalk boards are a lovely idea. They look great too.
You are always the first place I look now for presents, the photoframe went down a storm. We had an event that my grandmas couldnt make two days before her birthday so we got a photo of the 3 granchildren and put it in before we gave the present. Brill idea!
I’m so glad the frame turned out to be a good gift! Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment.
