Handmade Monday 23

Hello!  If you’re here for Handmade Monday, please leave your blog link below and find more information here if you need it.

before the crowds

Yesterday I was at my most local event – Croft Carnival.  Blue skies are always good and it was a lovely day for the bunting’s first outing.  I was pleased with it till I saw next door’s co-ordinated pink and lovely Asda bunting (the bottom bunting in the pic)!  Still, mine is both handmade and recycled – not to mention hard wearing – so I’m still pleased with it!

It was a bit of a trial run, getting everything in the car as I added stuff to my usual craft fair haul: gazebo, table, card spinner for the square plaques – I was expecting to have to make two trips but I think my little car is possibly a Tardis in disguise.  I haven’t time travelled in it (yet ;-) ) but it’s definitely roomier than it looks.

This little lot

all fitted into my teeny tiny Suzuki Alto.  The Alto is not stylish, it’s not big, but it is clever.  It sips petrol ever so slowly, fits in parking spaces other cars have to drive past  and fits all that craft fair paraphernalia in.  I’m rather fond of it really.

See the lines and numbers on the grass?

Everything sectioned off, parking behind your stall: seriously well-organised and very friendly.  I wish all shows were this well organised!

Oh, and sales?  It was an excellent day.  The new home sweet caravan plaques on this page were a hit.  As were these new family plaques (personalised with names, hair colour, number and size of children, etc) which I only finished on Friday

sorry about the mess but the Johnson family lives here

and I sold this new beach huts wall hanging early on

sandy toes, salty kisses, lazy days and summer wishes

which I was a bit sad about as it’s the only one in existence and I love it.  I shall just have to make some more!

Of course, I was next to Gill with the most gorgeous cupcakes.  I think perhaps it would’ve  been rude not to sample the produce.  Quality control and all that, as one of my customers pointed out.  Truly delicious, truly beautiful and if you’re in the north west do visit Gill’s website for info about all manner of freshly made, amazingly beautiful cupcakes (giant ones as well as regular and mini!)

What a well organised event, love the fact that your car is right next to your stall, so much better than lugging stock miles, well feels like it after the umpteenth trip. I agree you must give due diligence to tasting cakes would be churlish not to, love the look of the coffee one would be my favourite.

Your plaques as always are so unique I am not surprised you do well with them.

Having the car next to the stall makes such a big difference, but the whole thing ran so smoothly. Love the marked out spots too – makes it so easy to know where everyone should be.

Your stand looks fab and I like your bunting and the different colours and textures.

I love your little “stick” family they are so cute and it would have been too rude NOT to quality control the cakes -hehehe I know you love your sweets :)

    • Wendy says:

hanks Anita – the stick families went down well and I had a few orders for them. Yes, cake needs a thoroughly good testing! x

    • Wendy says:

Yes, I sold very well! It’s in an area where people appreciate handmade things, and the sun was shining – which always helps! x

sounds like an amazing day and I think your bunting is great and your stalllooks amazing I have just invested in a Fiat Qubo its really economical too but the main think is its very spacious for a small car its a mini van the back seats fold twice up giving you extra space in the back I love it Thanks again for hosting handmade Monday xx

I think your bunting looks great and your stall looks really inviting. I can’t wait to get to the stage where I can do fairs, they look like so much fun, especially on nice days when everyone’s feeling happy and more likely to spend their hard earned money!
    Thanks for another Handmade Monday.

they usually are fun – but beware of things that can be less than fun: wet & cold feet, excessive mud, cold, floodwater, disgusting toilets, hauling stuff up wet & slippy staircases (yes, really!), getting lost on the way, organisers who don’t advertise, phew. Despite all this, they really are a lot of fun. There’s a lot of friendship, camaraderie, support and advice.

  9. Helen says:

Your bunting is lovely and so much nicer than the asda one :) worth the hard work, definitely!

Your stall looks great and I love the bunting!

  11. Looks like a great event and very well organised! Glad the sun stayed out for you and that you had a good day. I love your bunting and the stall looks excellent.

We are the talk of the town with crafters (and organisers) who are amazed how we manage to get so much into our Fiat Seicento – two gridwalls, four/five tables, two chairs, five boxes of stock, a box cart full of stuff, three gazebos… I could go on! (and two people of course!) And all without the use of a roof rack. Small is beautiful… and spacious!

    Thanks for hosting HM again…

I love the beach hut plaque, you should definitely make more of those.
Those cakes do look lovely and of course it would be rude not to try them.

I prefer your bunting, plus it matches the bunting in your caravan plaque :) Your plaques are lovely by the way. The family one is my favourite :) xx

It all looks lovely, and sounds like a great event! I absolutely LOVE your family plaque – I will be ordering one very soon I think. I’ve also been next to a cake stall before – I have mixed feelings about them really, they are gorgeous to look at but I always end up spending all my (meagre) profits on cake and then go home penniless!!

    • Wendy says:

the family plaque has been really popular already and it’s not even made it to the website yet!
These cupcakes were only £1.00 but I was told to put my £ coin away – it was a freebie. Such a nice lady!

  18. Kat says:

It looks like you had a lovely day. And who can resist a good cupcake? Mmmmmmm cake.

I love the new plaques! And I am MORE than happy with the ones I purchased. Absolutely fantastic!

  19. Your bunting looks lovely, sounds like you had a great day!

  20. Looks like a really well organised event, combined with a well organised person – who even bought her car to fit the job! I love the phrase ‘sips petrol’, that’s why I no longer have a car!
