create - a new plaque I made yesterday at the fair

This week I had planned a quiet weekend, but after the Great Gazebo Disaster of last weekend, I decided I really needed to make up for the combination of lack of sales (I had to pack up early) and the trashing of a perfectly good gazebo (which must be replaced in the next two weeks).  So I booked two last minute events.

The first event, yesterday, was called Made in WA. It’s been designed to support makers in Warrington and surrounding areas – people in the WA postcode.  It’s going to be a regular event, and seeing as it’s hosted in Warrington Market, with all its facilities, shoppers, free parking and helpful staff you can’t really go wrong.  I plan to do a blog post later in the week to go into this in a bit more detail!

I had a fabulous space (this photo was taken as I was starting to set up.  I had 3 tables and all that space!)

3 x 6' tables and tons of space

as well as enthusiastic customers – and I met some amazing fellow stallholders making some amazing things!  I’ll be sharing some of their work too.

The second event, today, was Woodford Community Festival in Stockport.  I did think twice – it’s an outdoor event -  but seeing as I wasn’t responsible for the gazebos (and my car could remain packed from yesterday!) I decided to go for it.  The advantage of booking so late is that you actually have a weather forecast too!  It looked like it might be cloudy but dry.  It was – with a mild to moderate breeze which made me realise I’m not quite recovered from my Great Gazebo Disaster . . . I was quietly hysterical all day!  It was a lovely event though and well worthwhile :-)

What have you been doing and making?  Do leave your blog link and we’ll pop over and have a look!

  1. I’m glad to see you had a good weekend after the trials of last weekend. It’s also great that Warrington Market will be doing a regular event for handmade crafts – I love your new plaque.

  2. Great plaque Wendy!

Lucky you finding what sound like two great events at last minute. I was fortunate to enjoy a weekend of over indulgence courtesy of Hubby’s birthday – I’ll blame him for every extra inch on my hips!

Have a great week & thanks for hosting HM again.

your indulgent weekend sounded fab – and I’m sure heaving a few boxes of stock around and next weekend’s fairs will shift any extra inches!

Oh my! I missed last week, so I’ve just been catching up on your gazebo story! I would have been in a right state. Glad to hear no one was hurt and your work could be saved!

    • Wendy says:

Yeah, think I was in a bit of a state – shock more than anything. I kept thinking I should be crying but was too stunned!

Love the plaque, all that space how did you fill it

    • Wendy says:

haha, wasn’t difficult for me! I even spread out into the walkway with my card spinner (which holds plaques). I’ll go into more detail later in the week x

Wendy I really like your Create plaque, it’s lovely and colourful!

    • Wendy says:

thank you – I’ve made a few more but wasn’t sure about them! My 18-year-old daughter likes them, but she’s into bright bold colours. x

I think a weekend like last takes a while to fully recover from. Well done on finding events at the last minute and being able to make such a lovely bright plaque while you were there!

Your ears must have been burning this morning as I exchanged stories with a neighbour who had problems with a gazebo at our local horticultural show, I have to say your story won heads down! I love the’Create’ plaque and I’m impressed that you were able to happily fill that space.

  9. Made in WA looks a great idea, and what a great space. loving the plaque also, I’ve done lots of pink this week but a couple of colourful boys ones, haven’t taken pics yet…. I agree with your daughter ‘bold is beautiful’
    Thank you for hosting HM.

I noticed all your pink! It goes in waves sometimes, doesn’t it? I’ve have weeks of pink and then something else takes over! x

    Hi Wendy

So glad last weeks gazebo “disaster” hasn’t put you off from doing other outside events. It’s unfortunate that we can’t control the weather – wouldn’t it be lovely if we could?

I wish our local council/market place would do something like Warrington Market and I have to agree they guys there are really helpful with loading and unloading.

    See you soon
    Anita

    • Wendy says:

Oh Anita, the number of times I’ve thought the same thing about controlling the weather! I know it wouldn’t be right, but hey there should be some solution in this day and age!

Why don’t you speak to your local market? I think this one was thought up by a local crafter!
