A Trip…to the Hospital
Somehow yesterday I managed to trip up while pushing a wheelie bin and ended up first of all on the floor with my head in the wheelie bin (classy):
and then here:
The wheelie bin in question was one for garden waste, as I intended yesterday to clear another area in the overgrown garden we inherited when we bought this house.
The clearing didn’t happen, as my fall was one of those pretty spectacular ones that seems to happen in slow motion: you know it’s happening and as you’re falling you know you’re not going to be able to stop it.
As well as grazing my knees (that took me back to my childhood!), both hands were painful and swollen (as were my elbow, hip and shoulder) but my right hand and wrist particularly so. X-rays were required but didn’t reveal a break - although if it’s not better in 10 days I am to return for a bone scan as apparently one of the wrist bones doesn’t show up on an x-ray. In typical fashion, this is the one most suspected of being broken!
I was worried about being able to paint, but despite having two of my fingers strapped together and a wrist brace, I’m sure I’ll be fine with a paintbrush.
Normal service will be resumed shortly!!
