Samlesbury Hall, Blackburn

(Sharp intake of breath)… what a fabulous place Samlesbury Hall is!  I was there today, with a stall at their monthly Farmers’ Market and Craft Fair, and what a fabulous venue.  Comfy, beautifully upholstered chairs behind each table, clean loos with leather armchair, posh soap and hand lotion, reduced prices on food for stallholders (delivered to you), and just a fabulous setting: beautiful, historic building with intricate carving, amazing stained glass windows, fireplaces you could house a small family in.  Amazing.  Oh, and really fabulous customers and staff too!

You really must visit if you get chance!  It’s just 10 minutes from junction 31 of the M6.

Just look:

Henry the Eighth was wandering around today, although he didn’t stop to talk.  He was so realistic, and regal-looking, I thought I was seeing a ghost until I noticed his slightly twentieth-century-looking slippers.

I know I’ll be going back again soon.  I believe the Wild Lancashire Country Fair will be held there on 9th August - it sounds like it will be an amazing day in an equally amazing setting.

Blackburn Art Market

How very remiss of me not to give you information about Blackburn Art Market before now.

Blackburn Art Market takes place tomorrow (Wednesday 23rd July) as well as Friday (25th July) and Saturday (26th July).  If you’re in or near Blackburn, it may well be worth a visit.  Art markets and craft fairs are great places to buy unusual gifts and high-quality hand-made items at reasonable prices.  It’s the first time they’ve tried something like this in Blackburn, and if it’s successful, it is likely to become a regular event.

The Art market is being held actually inside Blackburn Market.  Here’s a link for you:

Oh, and I suppose it goes without saying that I’ll be there on all three days.

I’ll also be exhibiting at Samlesbury Hall in Blackburn on Sunday the 26th July at the Farmers’ Market/Craft Fair. And the link:  http://www.samlesburyhall.co.uk

It seems to be that Blackburn is suddenly the place to be.
