Frequently Asked Questions

I urgently need a present for an upcoming birthday. How quickly can you make my order?

It depends on the product. Most of our range can be made quite quickly when necessary. Let us know when you want it for and we'll give you an honest answer as to whether it's do-able. You are never obliged to continue with an order just by asking.

Do you ship abroad?

Yes, we ship to anywhere in the world. Email us and we'll be happy to let you know postage costs for the item(s) you're interested in. Depending on the country you are in, you may have to pay customs charges. This is out of our control, and we cannot advise on it.

What types of payment do you accept?

We accept payment by debit or credit card, PayPal, or cheque (or even cash if you are nearby). You can buy online by clicking the appropriate button - your payment will be processed by PayPal, which is one of the biggest and safest online processing companies. You can pay via PayPal with credit or debit card - you don't need an account with them. If you do have a PayPal account, it's even simpler. Alternatively, you may send us a cheque if you prefer.

I'd like a painting in a different size to the ones you have on your website. Will you be able to do it for me?

Yes, probably. Let us know what size you'd like and we'll tell you if it's possible. It probably is.

What kind of paints do you use? Are they safe? Are they fade-resistant?

Yes to both! We use water-based acrylic paints, which are non-toxic, although we wouldn't recommend eating them for lunch! They are long-lasting and fade-resistant. In fact, they are archival quality, which means they are likely to be around far longer than you or I will. The canvases are good quality Loxley canvases, which we buy in bulk to keep costs down. The wooden products we paint on are mostly made especially for us, often to our own designs. This gives you a highly unique end product.

How well packed will my order be?

We always overpack rather than underpack. To make up for the feelings of guilt that this inevitably brings on, we recycle as much packaging as possible. The box your goods arrive in may not be new, but it will be sturdy. The exception to recycling is bubble wrap, which we never have enough of so we do buy this new. Please try to recycle it at your end; it'll make us feel better. Your order should arrive safely. If for any reason there has been damage in transit, please keep all the original packaging and contact us immediately.

Can you paint something different for my child?

Yes, absolutely! If you have an idea of what you want, but you can't see it on the website, let us know by phone or email (or in person at an event) and we'll do our best to create something bespoke and truly unique. If you're not sure of your ideas, our artist Wendy is happy to discuss ideas and work with you to develop something special.

What do you mean by deep-profile canvas?

The canvas we use is stretched onto deeper frames than usual - approx 3.5 cm, which gives a modern chunky, boxy effect. The sides are painted, too, so that you don't need a frame - just hang it as it is.

I love the dog canvas but I'd like it in colours which match our pet dog Charlie. Can you do this?

Yes, let us know what colours Charlie is and what background you'd like. You can even email or snail mail us a photo of him!

Can I see your work in real life?

Yes, of course. It does depend on where you live and how far you're willing to travel though - we are based in Warrington, Cheshire. You can see us at any of the venues we're at - see the Events page for an up to date list. Alternatively, book us to attend your school or playgroup - you'll raise funds this way for your favourite cause. You are welcome to come to our studio, too. As this is a working environment and not a shop or gallery, please note that it may be messy and it is strictly by appointment only.

How can you produce original hand-painted art so cheaply?

The reasons our prices are so competitive are as follows: 1. You're buying direct from the artist, so there are no shop or gallery fees to pay. 2. It is a new business and we are keen to gain customers. 3. We work from home and keep our overheads as low as possible.

Does original artwork always increase in value?

Not always, but often. These pieces are likely to be of value to your family for many years to come, however, as they tell the stories of your family in a delightful way.
